Dubai Municipality accelerates digitisation of its public services and is set to unveil a new digital system for construction-related services

Dubai Municipality saw a 19 percent year-over-year rise in smart transactions in the first half of 2023, underscoring the rapid digitalisation of its public services. The Municipality is lifting the bar for urban government with a number of digital projects, including an advanced construction management system and AI-powered customer service.

Dubai Municipality aims to further advance the city's position as a worldwide leader in digital innovation and quality of life by embracing the promise of next-generation technologies like AI and the Internet of Things (IoT). The Municipality's efforts, which range from smart ticketing at parks to digital compliance checks for construction designs, not only benefit the general public but also create new efficiencies across several industries.

The first phase of a new digital system for services connected to construction will be unveiled by Dubai Municipality next month in another endeavour that will strengthen its reputation in the digital space. From land acquisition through demolition, the unified platform will provide clients with a seamless digital experience that covers every stage of the construction lifecycle.

The adaptable one-stop app that serves as the hub of Dubai Municipality's digital transformation. Advanced features, including voice-enabled search and a variety of electronic payment options, are abundant in this dynamic application. The app, which was designed to further enhance the quality of life for both locals and visitors, makes it simple to submit a variety of service requests and access municipal services.

In addition to letting customers explore parks and other leisure facilities run by Dubai Municipality, it also provides document authentication services and real-time order monitoring. The Municipality is getting ready to introduce a cutting-edge system for intelligent ticketing and gate access in its parks.

The system will have self-service kiosks for buying tickets that take a variety of payments, including Apple Pay and smartphone payments. Additionally, the Dubai Municipality plans to considerably enhance the digital service environment for imports of food and consumer items. 15 business operations, import, and export-related services are now undergoing modernization.

The Municipality has previously made available a special service that lets landowners obtain comprehensive information about the property that is registered in their names and even print related paperwork. A new computerised system for construction licences and regulations has also been implemented. This solution enables smart inspections and smooth monitoring of building operations thanks to its integration with the most recent Geographic Information Systems and Building Information Modelling standards. The application of automated self-auditing services streamlines and cuts down on the time required to comply with Dubai Building Codes.

The Municipality's services are presently also available through the 'Emirati' platform and the 'Dubai Now' app, both of which are run by the Dubai Digital Authority, highlighting the Municipality's commitment to providing seamless, 360-degree customer experiences.
