The Dubai Metro and Tram will operate for an extensive amount of time for the New Year celebrations making it a wise choice for the residents to enjoy the New Year festivities. According to a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official, these two important transport services would operate nonstop for 40 hours starting on December 31.
The timings are as follows:
Dubai Metro: December 31 from 8 am until the end of January 1
Dubai Tram: December 31 from 9 am until 1 am of January 2
In addition, the RTA intends to expand its fleet of buses to 230, which will be freely accessible to the public.
According to RTA CEO Abdullah Yousif Al Ali, the organisation aims to reduce traffic congestion and give the public convenient transit alternatives by expanding Metro and tram services, adding parking spaces, and offering free bus trips. Moreover, regular cab services will be available throughout the New Year's Eve weekend.
RTA has set up about 900 extra parking places in Al Wasl and Al Jafiliya to make sure there is enough space for those arriving to witness the New Year's celebrations. These additional parking spaces will handle the rush of automobiles during the celebrations, making it possible for guests to park their cars safely and easily.
According to Al Ali, signage systems have been implemented to direct traffic and partygoers during the celebrations. Road signage that shows parking lots and bus pickup places has been placed strategically to guide traffic. Furthermore, real-time information on road closures, alternate routes, and open paths will be provided through the installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) signs and changeable message boards.
RTA ensures that travel will be easy and hassle-free as Dubai welcomes the new year 2024.
