Dubai: Passengers in Dubai now have the option to “bus pool” to their destinations by sharing minibus rides through a booking system available on smart apps, authorities announced on Wednesday.
The service will initially operate in Deira, offering connections to central business districts such as Business Bay, Dubai Mall, Mirdif, and Dubai Festival City. Plans are in place to gradually extend the service to cover all areas of the emirate.
Fares for the service will vary depending on the distance traveled and the demand. Passengers can choose between single-trip fares or subscription options for weekly and monthly plans. The minibuses have seating capacities ranging from 13 to 30 passengers.
The service will function on demand, with bookings facilitated through three smart applications: Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily. Each company will operate and manage 20 minibuses using the designated apps, according to Bahrozyan.
