NewsHundreds of distinct nonstop destinations depart from Dubai International Airport, which has been ranked as one of the most connected airports in the world. The ranking was compiled by aviation analytics firm Cirium using data from the first half of the year. It counted the number of distinct nonstop destinations, or cities, that each airport travels directly to for getting the final ranking.
DXB has ranked sixth out of the top ten airports in the world, despite being the busiest for foreign travellers.
Dubai intends to replace Dubai International Airport as the city's primary air transportation hub.
Al Maktoum International Airport, a small airport now serving Dubai, is being transformed into an airport five times larger than DXB. After it is finished, the Dhs128 billion Al Maktoum International Airport will be able to handle 260 million passengers annually, which is a number that is several times more than the number of people that use DXB.
