Through 2023, the Dubai International Airport handled 87 million passengers, indicating a significant 32% annual increase. The figures also indicate a notable increase in airport traffic during the fourth quarter, aided by the COP28 conference and year-end celebrations.
The President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, tweeted on Monday, saying, "This exceptional performance reflects Dubai's commitment to maintaining its lead".
The airport saw 66 million passenger movements in 2022. Dubai Airport has revised its projections on the final statistics for 2023 regularly, even as it provided updates on quarterly results this year.
When the most recent update was given in November, the estimate was 86.8 million. The total indicates that the forecast was accurate.
