Dubai Duty Free ended 2024 on a high note, setting a new annual turnover record of AED7.901 billion (US$2.16 billion), aided by a significant rise in sales near the close of the year.
December achieved an all-time monthly record with sales of AED821.94 million (US$225.19 million), a 2% rise over December 2023, which was previously the highest-grossing month in Dubai Duty Free history.
The December performance was boosted by Dubai Duty Free's 41st anniversary festivities on December 20, when the merchant provided a -25% discount on a wide selection of goods, resulting in an AED59.99 million (US$16.44 million) shopping spree over 24 hours. Confectionery was the best-performing category in December, with sales up a staggering +29.46% from December 2023.
Throughout the year, the operation logged over 20.733 million sales transactions, with an average of 56,649 per day, and sold 55.137 million articles of merchandise. In 2024, it is predicted that approximately 13.7 million consumers would shop at Dubai Duty Free's arrivals and departures stores.
