A British-Filipino couple based in Dubai has introduced Places UAE, a groundbreaking dining discovery app. Headquartered in JLT, Dubai, the startup is the first globally to digitally index the entire menu offerings of a city.
The app features over 3.5 million searchable food and beverage items and lists 10,000 restaurants and cafes across Dubai.
In a significant technological achievement, the company has also developed and launched its own Artificial Intelligence (AI) model. “Our custom-built search infrastructure ensures complex search results are delivered in under half a second. Places has been entirely developed in Dubai, with a dedicated team of 21,” said Matthew Davidson, CEO and co-founder of Places UAE.
Emirati co-founder Saif Alnajjar, who holds a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from King’s College London, played a key role in the app's development.
Launched in October this year, the app has already garnered 20,000 users, according to Yasmin Davidson, the Head of Customer Support and co-founder.
