Dubai Authority issued over 63,500 e-scooter permits enabling riders to use the scooters in designated districts and streets

More than 63,500 e-scooter licences have been issued by Dubai authorities since they became mandatory in April 2022. According to Roads and Transport (RTA), the free licences let users operate the scooters on specific streets and regions.

After completing the training and awareness courses that are available on the RTA website, candidates who are 16 years of age or older are awarded permits. Those with current driver's licences, however, are exempt from taking these classes.

Since the start of 2023, the government has interacted with 3,000 bikers and users of e-scooters, educating them on safety precautions, traffic laws, and accident prevention advice.
