Dubai aims to position itself among the top three urban economies worldwide by achieving a trade target of Dh25.6 trillion over the next decade

Dubai has set a new trade target of Dh25.6 trillion over the next ten years after completing its trade targets ahead of schedule. The goal is to place Dubai among the top three urban economies in the world. A year ahead of expectations, Dubai's non-oil commerce hit Dh2 trillion in 2023. This accomplishment highlights Dubai's distinct commercial strategy. The emirate has demonstrated resilience in the face of widespread supply chain issues, boosting its competitiveness and establishing itself as a pioneer in the change of global commerce.

Dubai's non-oil commerce growth is consistent with the UAE's general increase in international trade.

The Crown Prince of Dubai emphasised that Dubai's remarkable non-oil trade development is evidence of its unique business culture. Dubai has made a number of profitable investments in cutting-edge technologies for Dubai Customs, which has helped to support the city's rapidly expanding non-oil foreign commerce. Compared to 22.5 million declarations in 2022—an increase of 18%—the agency processed more than 26.5 million customs declarations in 2023, a record high. In 2023, there was also a notable 15% increase in the number of products traded over land, in addition to a 9% growth in goods carried by air and an 8% rise in goods transported by sea.

The objective of this plan is to double the value of Dubai's non-oil international commerce (including imports, exports, and re-exports) in order to reach the city-state's Dh2 trillion target by 2025. The team consists of government and business strategic partners of Dubai Customs tasked with analysing the existing situation and coming up with and executing a range of initiatives, whether they be legislative, incentive-based, or logistical in nature. The ultimate goal is to make Dubai more competitive and to strengthen its strategic position in international trade, allowing it to link the north, south, east, and west of the world with ease.
