Driving vehicles that cause excessive noise; harsh penalties, including a fine of Dh2000 and 12 traffic points

Drivers have been cautioned by Abu Dhabi Police not to participate in disruptive behaviours, such as purposefully making loud noises with their cars or acting in ways that endanger public safety or disturb peace of mind. Under Article "20" of the Traffic Law, drivers who violate this provision will be subject to severe penalties, which include a fine of Dh2000 and 12 traffic points for operating a vehicle that produces excessive noise.

Additionally, police published an awareness film in which they strongly advised drivers to refrain from honking and excessive acceleration and issued a harsh warning against doing so.

These disruptive acts are particularly common on highways next to sandy regions close to residential zones, greatly upsetting and alarming the locals, especially the old, ill, and children who are particularly susceptible as per Abu Dhabi Police.

It emphasised the detrimental effects of vehicle noise on peace of mind for the general people, causing anxiety, stress, and fear not just in other drivers and other road users but also in the communities where these kinds of loud cars are regularly seen. Motorcyclists and drivers should closely follow safety and security protocols, especially in sandy regions and family camping locations, according to Abu Dhabi Police.  In order to maintain the safety and quietness of public roads, drivers are also encouraged to abide by all traffic laws and refrain from altering their cars in order to make them noisier.
