Directives for strategy given by UAE Media Council chairman; to strengthen the media landscape regionally and globally

The UAE's media industry will benefit from a comprehensive plan, which will also promote the expansion of the creative industries across the country. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the chairman of the UAE Media Council, gave instructions for the strategy during a meeting on Monday. This will also allow the media sector to keep up with quick changes, improve its competitiveness and contribution to economic growth, and fortify the regional and global media landscape.

Sheikh Zayed stressed the importance of working with all pertinent public and private sector organisations and studying their research on and plans for the future of the UAE media sector during the meeting at Qasr Al Watan in order to synchronise strategic plans and align with the guidelines, policies, and requirements for further enhancing the media sector and its operations. He clarified that the new strategy would be in line with national values and the aims of the UAE leadership and that the media industry is a reflection of the UAE's national identity and development ambitions.

The council discussed a number of important issues, such as the regulatory frameworks for the media industry as well as the goals of media programmes created to develop the industry, particularly those related to upskilling media and creative talent to further enhance their role in advancing industry success in line with global trends.

The meeting was attended by members of the UAE Media Council including Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Director of the Ruler’s Court, Ras Al Khaimah; Saeed Mohammed Al Eter, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Projects and Chairman of the UAE Media Office; Maryam Eid AlMheiri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Media Office; Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office; Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City; Dr Saeed Saif Al Matrooshi, Secretary-General of the Executive Council of the Government of Ajman; Mohammed Saeed Al Hamour Al Yammahi, Director-General of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, and Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council.
