NewsAn Organ Donation awareness campaign was launched by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) at its headquarters in Al Jaddaf on the occasion of World Transplant Day, which is observed every year on June 6. The programme comprises a number of roadshows to raise awareness at public and governmental institutions, hospitals, and public areas like malls.
At the Flydubai Campus, the first roadshow just took place. One of the national airlines of the UAE, flydubai, employs more than 4,900 people from 136 different countries. By disseminating knowledge about organ donation and enticing people to think about becoming donors, the awareness campaign hopes to promote HAYAT, the registry for the National Programme for Organ Donation and Transplantation.
The programme seeks to promote a healthy lifestyle and frequent health checkups among community members in keeping with World Transplant Day.
DHA organised multiple health examinations for staff, including blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure checks, as part of the introduction of this programme. To encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle and exercise frequently, employees also received reduced gym membership vouchers.
Dr. Maria Gomez, Director of the National Centre for Regulating Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, UAE, Dr. Ali Al Obaidli, Chairman of the UAE National Transplant Committee, representatives of hospitals that currently offer organ transplant services in Dubai, and high-ranking health officials and employees all attended the campaign.
