DEWA has achieved the lowest electricity Customer Minutes Lost globally in 2024

With only 0.94 minutes lost per customer, Dubai electrical and Water Authority (DEWA) has the lowest electrical Customer Minutes Lost (CML) in the world for 2024.This is a substantial improvement over the average of 15 minutes stated by major European electricity companies, and it beats its previous record of 1.06 minutes set in 2023.

Between 2012 and 2024, DEWA significantly shortened CML from 6.88 minutes to 0.94 minutes. This achievement is attributed by the authority to its AED 7 billion Smart Grid project, which is expected to be finished by 2035. The grid has enhanced load management, decreased losses, and expanded energy transmission and distribution efficiency. One of its most significant inventions is the Automatic Smart Grid Restoration System, which was the first of its kind in North Africa and the Middle East. Without the assistance of a person, an AI-powered system automatically finds and isolates errors to restore services.

DEWA's dedication to intelligent solutions was further acknowledged at the Asian Power Awards 2024 in Singapore, where it was awarded the "Smart Grid Project of the Year - UAE" for its Distribution Automation Smart Grid projects and the "Innovative Power Technology of the Year - UAE" award for its Actual Load Profiles Simulator (ALPS). These honors demonstrate DEWA's pioneering role in sophisticated energy management and technical advancement.
