Construction of the first air taxi station near Dubai International Airport has begun
12 Nov 2024
NewsSheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, declared on Tuesday that work has started on the first air taxi station close to Dubai International Airport.
The project will feature the initial launch of four air taxi stations, with the first one slated to officially open in the first quarter of 2026. Four key landing locations in Dubai—Dubai International Airport, Downtown, Dubai Marina, and Palm Jumeirah—will be included in the service's initial phase. They will include designated take-off and landing zones, electric charging stations, a passenger area, and security protocols. They will be created in partnership with Skyports.
The anticipated 10- to 12-minute journey time from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah, as opposed to the existing 45-minute travel time during peak hours, will help alleviate traffic congestion in Dubai.
