In the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan is the ninth month. It typically lasts for thirty days, during which Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, and engaging in sexual activity from Fajr (morning prayers) until Maghrib (evening prayers). Throughout the month of Ramadan, large iftar gatherings take place in mosques and special tents all around the United Arab Emirates. At each of the iftars, restaurateurs, business owners, and volunteers compete to feed the growing number of attendees.
