‘Clean UAE’ campaign; around 7,327 volunteers collected 10.5 tonnes of waste in Dubai on Saturday

As part of the Emirates Environmental Group's (EEG) statewide "Clean UAE" initiative, 10.5 tonnes of rubbish were collected in Dubai on Saturday by 7,327 volunteers from a variety of backgrounds. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment is sponsoring the campaign's 22nd iteration, which is taking place in all seven emirates.

The programme is being launched in conjunction with the United Arab Emirates' "Year of Sustainability" (2023) and the just concluded COP28 climate summit in Dubai. The campaign took place on Saturday at four locations in Saih Al Salam in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, Saih Al Salam Protected Area Management, and Dubai Economy and Tourism.

Wearing campaign cotton T-shirts and hats that were particularly made, together with reusable cotton gloves and biodegradable plastic bags, the participants came together early in the morning to help the environmental project, ultimately collecting 10.5 tonnes of rubbish.

An array of public and business sector representatives attended the inaugural event, which was graced by the attendance and active involvement of Executive Committee Members of EEG. EEG is committed to coordinating its activities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an approved body under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
