Classes in all UAE federal government schools will be conducted online on Friday, following heavy rains and flooding

Following Thursday's severe rains and floods that affected several regions of the nation, classes at all federal government schools in the United Arab Emirates will only be held online on Friday. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has requested that all private schools in Dubai "consider distance learning."

The Council of Ministers decided as a safety precaution, considering the unfavourable weather conditions impacting the nation, according to the UAE Media Office. Due to Thursday's severe rain, lightning, and thunder that affected several areas of the Northern Emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, schools were forced to declare an early end to lessons.

Parents were notified by some schools that their children "may be coming home with wet feet as bus bays were flooded." School messages to parents and students informed them that owing to bad weather on Friday, events were cancelled or moved online.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts that throughout the next few days, rainfall of various intensities will occur.
