British expats in Dubai are eligible to vote in UK general elections

In the past, British nationals who had lived overseas for more than 15 years would lose their right to vote. Election Act 2022 have amended that, and on Tuesday, January 16, the new rules came into effect and now British expat in Dubai are eligible to vote. 

British nationals living overseas can register in the last constituency they registered in before coming on this flight, After registering, there are further benefits; for example, they can give to political campaigns and parties to increase their influence over national policy.  

Those who left the UK before they were old enough to vote can register to vote using the address of their parent or legal guardian.   According to government estimates, between 3.2 million and 3.3 million British expatriates would be able to register to vote once the law takes effect. That amounted to one million before the regulation modification.
