Private sector employees in Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah will be covered by the health insurance program beginning on January 1, 2025. The system is already required in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
This will guarantee that every employee in the United Arab Emirates is insured.
Patients who are admitted to the hospital for medical treatment or surgery will have their treatment costs covered by the package, with a 20% co-payment for inpatient care. The insured, including prescription drugs, pays a maximum of Dh500 each visit, with an annual cap of Dh1,000. The insurance provider pays 100% of treatment expenses over specified caps.
