Authorities in Umm Al Quwain have announced 50 per cent discount on traffic violations in the emirate

Umm Al Quwain officials have given a 50% reduction in traffic offences throughout the emirate ahead of the 52nd National Day celebrations in the United Arab Emirates. The Umm Al Quwain Police General Command has announced an initiative that offers a discount on all forms of offences committed in the Umm Al Quwain emirate before November 1, 2023.

This reduction is available from December 1, 2023, to January 7, 2024, and it is applicable to all transgressions, with the exception of serious ones. The initiative's goals are to promote driving laws' observance and motivate people to take care of unpaid infractions within this time frame.

Below is the list of violations not included in discount, as per the authority:

• Driving a vehicle in a manner that puts his life, the lives of others, or your safety in jeopardy.
• Driving a vehicle in a manner that might endanger the integrity of private or public infrastructure.
• Heavy vehicles overtaking the red light.
• Overtaking the red light by light vehicles.
• Overtaking the red light by motorcycles.
• Exceeding the maximum speed limit by more than 80 km / h.
• Modifying the engine or 'chassis' of a vehicle without a licence.
