For the second year, Cinema Akil is bringing back Arab Cinema Week, a 10-day festival dedicated to highlighting regional talent. Taking place between Friday, October 6 and Sunday, October 15, tickets for films cost Dhs56.50, or you can buy a season pass (which allows you to see all of the films) for Dhs350.
abih El-Khoury has handpicked the lineup once more. In a statement on the event's second edition, she stated, "This year's theme of 'Human Bonds' has allowed us to craft a programme that encapsulates stories from the entire Arab world." Films from Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Sudan, the UAE, Somalia, and Palestine are included in Arab Cinema Week.
The Insomnia Of A Serial Dreamer, a personal documentary recorded over 15 years by filmmaker Mohamed Soueid, will be screened for the first time.
Ashkal, a Tunisian criminal thriller about a murder investigation, will be presented.
Life Suits Me Well, a narrative about a Moroccan family dealing with an unexpected illness among them.
We Are Family is a short film project that will chronicle the lives of four characters from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Somalia, and Lebanon as they attempt to free themselves.
My Lost Country, a film by Iraqi director Ishtar Yasin Gutiérrez, will also be shown as part of the lineup.
