Visit the free "Al Marmoom: Film in the Desert" event this weekend to honour local and international creative talent in the film business. This weekend, from Friday, January 12 to Sunday, January 21, there will be a number of seminars, workshops for aspiring filmmakers, and a display of works by Emirati and UAE-resident filmmakers.
And if you're a movie enthusiast, you'll adore the chance to network with regional and industry professionals who will be providing insightful discussions and panels on how to exhibit your originality, hone your skills, and achieve the highest level of professionalism.
The festival's 2024 edition will be centred around the short-film genre, which draws influence from narrative and represents traditional Emirati arts.
More than 70 films by Emirati, GCC, Arab, and international filmmakers will be screened for attendees, 56 of which are entries in the Al Marmoom Short-Film Competition. The films will be judged in three categories by a team of specialists from the UAE and the regional film industry.
The judges for the animation category will include Bahraini director Inas Yacoub, co-founder and chief strategy officer of Kharabeesh Wael Attili, and Emirati caricaturist and animation director Haidar Mohamad.
