Ajman has launched an initiative to motivate drivers to turn off their vehicle's engines when stopping at a timed traffic signal

According to the emirate's planning department and municipality, Ajman has started a campaign to encourage vehicles to switch off their engines when stopping at a timed traffic light. Under this effort, timed traffic signals will be erected across the city with the label "Turn off the engine." This will allow drivers to resume their cars between the light turning green and red.

Lowering exhaust gas emissions, fuel consumption, and noise pollution from idle engines, helps to improve road sustainability and maintain environmental purity. The authority has called on locals and guests to engage constructively with the effort, emphasizing the need for everyone to cooperate and take environmental responsibility to maintain sustainability. 

Executive Director of the Department's Infrastructure Development Sector, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, clarified that the project is consistent with the UAE's sustainable theme for 2024. Additionally, it offers drivers an opportunity to incorporate sustainability into their driving. The capacity of contemporary, environmentally friendly automobiles to simply stop and restart their engines makes it predicted that they would readily adapt to the new regulation.
