Uber's brand-new self-driving cars are being introduced in Abu Dhabi, which is quickly becoming one of the world's most technologically advanced cities. The new service, which provides driverless transportation between specific destinations, has debuted in the capital. This is the first of its sort outside of the United States and was launched in partnership with WeRide, a world leader in autonomous driving technology.
Saadiyat Island, Yas Island (ideal if you're attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix), and the roads to and from Zayed International Airport are all places to catch the ride of the future. Although this service is currently only available in a few areas of the capital, more will soon be able to access it.
When scheduling an UberX or Uber Comfort, all you need to do is select the autonomous WeRide vehicles for particular routes. A safety operator will be present to make sure that everything runs smoothly for both passengers and pedestrians during the initial phase of the service, so it won't just be you and your Uber.
