Abu Dhabi Municipality announced that the authority has simplified the process of buying subsidised and discounted food

The Abu Dhabi Municipality said that the process for obtaining reduced and subsidised meals has been made simpler. UAE residents may now use their Emirates ID cards to get meals at a discount. The food commodity card doesn't need to be renewed. The following merchants accept Emirates ID as payment for goods from customers:

• Storage facilities owned and operated by the municipalities of Muroor and Mussafah in Abu Dhabi and Baniyas
• Through this service, residents can request the purchase of certain goods, such as food, at lower prices.

Only UAE citizens residing in the emirate of Abu Dhabi may receive a rice and food card. Without establishing a fixed day for entitlement, the allocations are distributed to the beneficiary families who are cardholders throughout the month. With the submission of the necessary paperwork, the children of a woman who is married to a non-citizen are added to the card since they are the children of female citizens.

If the mother is the guardian, the children of divorced women may be added to the card upon filing the necessary paperwork. In the event of abuse or violation, the card may be suspended or terminated. It is acceptable to give an unmarried consumer with a separate family book a card to buy subsidised and reduced food. If delivery is desired, a delivery fee of Dh36.75 is applied.
