Abu Dhabi's transport authority said that it has started a campaign to encourage drivers to yield to emergency vehicles on the road.
In order to save lives and property, the awareness campaign, "Giving way to emergency vehicles," strives to make sure that these vehicles arrive at accident scenes as soon as possible.
According to UAE law, anyone who refuses to yield to emergency, ambulance, or police vehicles faces a punishment of Dh3,000. In addition to receiving six traffic points, violators will have their vehicles seized for 30 days.
Drivers who are caught preventing authorities from controlling traffic and preventing rescue vehicles from moving during emergencies, disasters, crises, or rainstorms will be fined Dh1,000, have their vehicles seized for 60 days, and receive four black points.
In accordance with Resolution No. 24 of 2012, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense has previously reminded warehouse owners to avoid blocking entrances and failing to provide adequate room for Civil Defense vehicles to maneuver between warehouses.
Additionally, the authorities cautioned against blocking access to these areas in a way that might impair their ability to function. The punishment for these actions is Dh50,000.
In addition to planning field trips and awareness talks aimed at drivers and other societal groups, the present campaign concentrates on increasing awareness through a variety of media platforms.
