Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship 2024 will be held from 19-21 April 2024; deadline for registration is April 15

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) Chairman, His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is sponsoring the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship 2024, which is scheduled for April 19–21, 2024. With the joint objective of encouraging the preservation of traditional sports that symbolise the UAE's nautical history, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club (ADMSC) and ADSC will arrange the event. 

The deadline for registration is Monday, April 15, 2024. The procedure is available to people of all nationalities, including residents and citizens of the UAE and those outside of it, and participation is required through the official ADSC website (adsc.ae).

Ayoob Al Khaja, a representative of Delma Marine; Mohammed Darwish Al Marar, a representative of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD); His Excellency Suhail Al Arifi, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at ADSC; Majid Ateeq Al Muhairi, Director of the Marine Sports Department at ADMSC; and a number of media representatives and influencers attended the launch of the event, which was the largest of its kind in the region.

One of the most significant maritime sporting events in the emirate, the Abu Dhabi Grand Kingfish Championship promotes participation from the larger community while preserving the popular kingfishing hobby among Emiratis. Prize money of AED 1 million has been set aside by the organising committee for the competition, with rewards going to the top 60 finishers.The objective is to draw in as many competitors as you can. The weight of the kingfish caught throughout the event will determine the winner. AED 200,000 will be awarded as prize money for first place. 

It is anticipated that hundreds of participants throughout its three days will include a substantial number of specialists, as well as novices and fishing aficionados.

AED 200 registration fee is required, and participants should know that the briefing will take place on April 16, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the Muhammad Khalaf Majlis in the Al Karama neighbourhood. From April 16–18, they will receive an exterior poster for their boat. On April 19, the boats will congregate on the beach in front of Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club early in the morning to collect their inside sticker. At precisely 11 a.m., the preparatory boat raises the yellow flag to signal the start of the assembly, and three days later, the green flag to signal the beginning of the competition.
