NewsAn innovative firm in the United Arab Emirates has taken on the task of removing rubbish from landfills. Bins that can talk and garbage bags with QR tags for tracking have been introduced by the tech startup Nadeera, located in Abu Dhabi. These smart bins have been installed at over fifty locations around Dubai and Abu Dhabi, mostly in the neighbourhoods of JLT, JVC, Marina, and Dubai South.
Earn rewards by going green:
Nadeera offers incentives through its app for recycling. This is made possible through its traceable bags.
Here's how the process goes:
- When the container is filled, the company sends a truck from one of its partners to pick up the recyclables.
- After that, each bag carries a QR code before it is brought to the facility.
- The bags are scanned, and users receive feedback and credits that may be utilised at Talabat or Carrefour based on the calibre of the sorting that has been done.
Every single transaction that takes place is registered live on a blockchain, which is an assurance that the waste is being diverted. The company provides access to that blockchain to its partners, so they're able to monitor it and know that it cannot be changed. So, this is an assurance for them that whenever they sponsor a project waste is getting diverted.
Nadeer's chief added that the entire system runs on artificial intelligence and blockchain processes.
