Abu Dhabi authority announces ban of certain vehicles on major streets in the emirate on October 9

On October 9, Abu Dhabi authorities issued a ban on certain automobiles on key streets around the emirate. The Abu Dhabi Police, in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre, announced the restriction on social media. Buses transporting employees with a capacity of '50 people and more' on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Sheikh Zayed Tunnel (previously Al-Qurram Street) are prohibited from travelling in both directions on Monday, October 9th, 2023.

The prohibition will be in place from 6.30 am to 9 am in the morning and from 3pm to 7pm in the evening. This is consistent with the authority's deliberate efforts to limit traffic and prevent car accidents. The Abu Dhabi Police General Command has directed drivers not to travel during certain times and to obey traffic systems.

The authority also stated that it will increase road monitoring and police infractions on buses to transport employees in order to track and capture transgressions using smart technology.
