Abu Dhabi and Dubai remained the top liveable cities in the Middle East and Africa, as per Global Liveability Index of EIU

According to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) Global Liveability Index for 2024, Abu Dhabi and Dubai continued to be the most livable cities in the Middle East and Africa, and they also saw improvements in their health and education rankings. 

Dubai was placed in second place by the index, indicating that it has made development in the same categories.

Abu Dhabi is regarded as one of the safest cities in the world, according the "Crime and Safety Indexes" available on the Numbeo website. With an 88.2 point Safety Index ranking and an 11.8 point Crime Index, the city was the highest-ranked city in the world. On the list of the safest cities in the world, Dubai came in fifth.

In terms of health, statistics from a study released by the Dubai Health Authority recently revealed that as of the first quarter of 2024, the emirate has 5,020 licensed and operating healthcare institutions and 13,370 licensed doctors.

During the 2023–2024 academic year, there were 459 schools in Abu Dhabi, including private, public, and mixed schools. In contrast, there were 220 private schools in Dubai.

The six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is one of the global economic superpowers, attracting top talent and allocating enormous sums of money to it. 173 cities are included in the worldwide index, which is rated in five categories: infrastructure, education, culture and environment, stability, and health care.
