Abu Dhabi Airports anticipates welcoming over 22 million travellers by the end of 2023

By the end of 2023, Abu Dhabi Airports expects to welcome over 22 million passengers. They emphasise that the opening of Terminal A has cemented the UAE capital's position as a major international gateway and a centre for trade and tourism.

Speaking at the first-ever press roundtable at Abu Dhabi International Airport's new Terminal A building, Managing Director and Interim Chief Executive Officer Elena Sorlini based her end-of-year traveller projections on the airport's recent strong performance indicators.

From the beginning of October to the same period in 2022, there has been a 49% increase in the number of passengers. According to Sorlini, there will be about 410 flights per day in the current and future winter seasons, up from about 340 flights per day in the summer of last year. With the capacity to handle 11,000 passengers per hour and 79 flights simultaneously, Terminal A will enhance Abu Dhabi's reputation as a major aviation hub worldwide. Airlines can extend their presence in Abu Dhabi in response to rising demand thanks to the capacity expansion.

The new terminal will improve the entire travel experience for all passengers, including those transferring to other destinations, with its state-of-the-art amenities, which include 163 outlets for passengers to shop, dine, and enjoy, 35,000 square metres of retail and food and beverage space, and biometric technology to expedite the screening and boarding process.
