Abu Dhabi Airports announced new development plans for their free zone arm ADAFZ, at BIG5 on Wednesday

Abu Dhabi Airports unveiled updated growth plans for its free zone division, ADAFZ, during BIG5 on Wednesday. Several Light Industrial Units (LIUs) are to be built as part of the development strategy; these projects are presently in the master planning stage.

The Southside Logistics area, which is next to the cargo terminal, will see these LIUs constructed on 200,000 square feet, as disclosed by the operator of the airport and free zone.

Currently in great demand, the creation of LIUs will meet the growing demand from the small- to medium-sized company sector since they provide an affordable entry point and can be scaled to accommodate the expansion of the tenant or client. The units are perfect for consumer, retail, technology, goods forwarding & logistics, light manufacturing & assembly, and airport support services.

With a development duration of 12 to 18 months, ADAFZ plans to grant construction of the LIUs in 2024, pending approval of its master plan.
