NewsAs part of the 44th Planting Week, which began yesterday (Monday, February 26), a week-long initiative aims to plant 50,000 additional mangrove trees across the UAE over the week ending March 1. The programme, with the slogan "Together, Let's Plant the UAE," seeks to solve environmental and climate-related issues, promote environmental preservation, and increase public knowledge of the value of planting trees.
In order to promote interaction with various social groups, all relevant authorities will take part in planting events throughout all of the UAE's emirates during Planting Week. In keeping with the UAE's audacious goal of planting 100 million mangrove trees by 2030, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) provides 50,000 mangrove seedlings to participating businesses.
This significant endeavour uses mangroves' inherent ability to absorb carbon dioxide, supporting environmentally friendly approaches to halting climate change and cutting carbon emissions on a local and global level. Implementing such programmes will play a major role in advancing the goal of keeping the increase in global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
In order to support the growth and maintenance of green space, the 44th Planting Week is focused on incorporating cutting-edge technologies and practices that include a variety of sectors, including People of Determination. The major objective is to promote native plants and increase public knowledge of the value of planting in order to preserve and improve green places.
