A strategic water reservoir named Al Hefaiyah on the Sharjah-Kalba Road was inaugurated on Saturday

Now, visitors and locals alike in Sharjah have something fresh to look forward to. On Saturday afternoon, a lake that will serve as a vital source of water for humans was officially opened.  The water body, known by the name Al Hefaiyah, is a component of the emirate's next urban development initiatives and is situated on the Sharjah-Kalba Road after the Al Hiyar Tunnel. The lake is surrounded by a 3.17-kilometer dual-lane road that invites strollers to take in the lovely scenery. There is also a 620 square metre kid-only play area.

In the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the lake was officially opened by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah.

The lake, which spans 132,000 square metres, was constructed using cutting-edge technology, including pipelines connecting the mountains and the lake for rainfall collecting, excess water storage, and valley runoff control. The novel building materials were chosen for the mountainous terrain. Water from the surrounding mountains and lowlands is brought in via a 3.2-kilometer water conduit that has a capacity of 155 million gallons and a maximum depth of four metres. In order to reduce the amount of valley water entering the lake and remove pollutants and sediments from it, three barriers and filters have been installed.
