A partial lunar eclipse will be visible across the UAE from September 17 to 18

A partial lunar eclipse is scheduled to occur in the United Arab Emirates and will be visible from Tuesday, September 17 to Wednesday, September 18. The harvest moon, which coincides with Sunday, September 22, the Northern Hemisphere's autumnal equinox, will occur just a few days before the lunar eclipse.

The moon will rise at around the same time every night for the next several days. This offered farmers many more evenings of moonlight, which helped them harvest their summer crops back in the day (thus the name harvest moon).

Last but not least, if it shows up, we might be treated to the brightest comet of 2024 around the end of September.

On Friday, September 27, a massive path across the night sky is predicted to be observed from the comet Atlas, also known as C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS). Astronomers disagree as to whether this will really happen or if the comet will break up before it can be seen once more later in the month.
