A global movement to safeguard bees –'Bee The Change' campaign was unveiled on Monday

Expo City Dubai has joined the worldwide alliance to protect bees worldwide as a founding member. The 'Bee The Change' campaign, which was unveiled on Monday, aims to protect bees worldwide by raising finances and awareness to preserve pollinator survival.

The initiative is a component of the recently launched Trillion Bees coalition, a science-led effort started by materials science company PANGAIA that unites businesses, organisations, and individuals to mobilise over two billion people and raise $1 billion in funding to support bee conservation, habitat protection, and biodiversity initiatives.

During the COP28 climate summit, 'Bee The Change' was showcased at Expo City's Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion. Reem Al Hashimy, the CEO of Expo City Dubai Authority and the UAE Minister of International Cooperation, highlighted the initiative with other co-founders of the Trillion Bees alliance based in the UAE.

Expo City's involvement in the 'Bee The Change' campaign and its membership in the Trillion Bees coalition are examples of its continued dedication to maintaining and safeguarding the natural environment, which is evident in the city's many sustainability initiatives.

The honey was gathered and bottled after the bees' nests were securely moved during the building of the former Expo 2020 Dubai site. The vegetables that are flourishing at the freshly opened Expo City Dubai Farm are also a source of enjoyment for bees.

Expo City is co-founding the Trillion Bees coalition and is presenting many bee-related activities during COP28.

SWARM art installation:

'Bee The Change' and PANGAIA will showcase an art piece featuring a swarm of bees built by internationally famous origami artist Leonie Bradley. The installation will be centrally positioned in the Green Zone of COP28, with a smaller replica in the Blue Zone. The interactive piece of art, named SWARM, encourages attendees of COP28 to write a commitment to the environment and include it in the piece to represent how many hands working together may effect good change.
