A first project of its kind in UAE - 'virtual lawyer' has been announced to help legal institutions

The Ministry of Justice has launched a "virtual lawyer" initiative in partnership with GITEX 2024, that would assist legal institutions. The virtual lawyer initiative is the first of its type in the UAE and the region, to add value by expediting the litigation process and making the litigant's trip easier. After registering with the Ministry, legal firms that want to employ a virtual lawyer must enter their database into the "Unified National Legislative Texts Database," which will be developed by the Ministry of Justice.

In 2025, the trial version will become live. It will only be able to help attorneys in basic cases during the initial phase. The capabilities that will be available include the capacity to communicate with a human judge, convert audio to text and vice versa, and submit papers and memoranda. Through this initiative, the justice sector will be better prepared for possibilities in the future and their effects on the legal profession. It aims to use artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology to develop new government models that enhance customer satisfaction and speed up services in an interactive, digital litigation environment.

The initiative was created in collaboration with the UAE Government's Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and the Office of Government Development and the Future. The project will consider the customers' cyber immunity, guaranteeing users' privacy and safeguarding their data in the Ministry of Justice's digital environment and the UAE government's cloud environment.

In addition, the Ministry of Justice is creating laws for the use of the national digital infrastructure in legal professions with the highest standards of digital security.
