A draft law for the year 2024 regarding real estate leasing in Sharjah has been approved by the Sharjah Consultative Council

The Sharjah Consultative Council has adopted a draft law for real estate leasing in Sharjah for the year 2024 (SCC). Following the introduction of many revisions to the draft law during the sixth meeting of the first regular session of the eleventh legislative term, the legislation was approved.

Head of the Government of Sharjah's Legal Department, Counsellor Dr. Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar, commended the role of SCC in finishing the legislative cycle of draft legislation during his address. He emphasised the significance of the current draft legislation, pointing out that it is a work system that enhances Sharjah's benefits and demonstrates the city's eagerness to control the connection between landlord and renter through Sharjah's existing regulations.

The draft law on real estate leasing is crucial, according to Khaled Falah Al Suwaidi, Director of Customer Service at Sharjah Municipality. He noted that the law includes regulating articles that represent the goal of improving the Emirate of Sharjah's appeal to tourists, investors, and residents.

Al Suwaidi emphasised that the draft law's present language addresses societal living conditions and unites all pertinent parties in a well-organized framework that keeps up with changes and demand in the Emirate of Sharjah's real estate market.

The SCC Chairman, Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, presided over the meeting. In the presence of Counsellor Dr. Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar, Head of the Government of Sharjah's Legal Department; Issa bin Hanzal, Director of the Government of Sharjah's Legal Department; and from the Sharjah Municipality, Khalid Falah Al Suwaidi, Director of Customer Service; Abdullah Ibrahim Shuhail, Director of the Rental Regulation Department; and Muhammad Ali Al Ridwan, Head of the Judgements Implementation Department, the Council discussed the draft law on leasing real estate and reviewed the report received by the Council's Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions, and Complaints Committee.

Members spoke about all of the law's goals and provisions, all of which are meant to control the relationship between a landlord and a renter.

At its fifth plenary session, the Council adopted a draft legislation for the year 2024 concerning real estate leasing in the Emirate of Sharjah. This draft law is the second one the Council will examine when it starts its work for the eleventh legislative term. The Council's Secretary-General, Ahmed Saeed Al-Jarwan, said at the conclusion of the meeting that the Council's suggestions about the Sharjah Tourism and Commerce Development Authority's strategy will be the subject of the following meeting.
