NewsThe Environment, Health and Safety Department of Abu Dhabi's City Planning Sector launched a comprehensive five-day field inspection campaign across various construction sites on Abu Dhabi Island on Monday to protect the health and safety of workers in the emirate's construction and building sector.
The initiative's goal is to educate both workers and business owners in the industry about the important safety precautions to take during heat-intensive work times. Throughout the campaign, Municipality inspectors underlined the need of following the midday work prohibition regulation, which was mandated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.
Workers were also taught the value of having access to cold drinking water, appropriate cooling equipment, sun-shielding umbrellas, salt-infused hydration resources, and first-aid supplies in the workplace. Companies are also encouraged to provide shaded rest places for workers to recoup during downtime, constructed in accordance with workforce size and approved health and safety requirements.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality continues to emphasise to construction businesses and their employees the need of preventative measures and first aid availability on working sites in order to maintain worker health and safety.
