A 70-metre-long walkway in Abu Dhabi to offer pedestrians a cooler outdoor experience

After a year of planning and building, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) finally opened the air-conditioned outdoor walkway in Abu Dhabi in late December of last year. This is a pilot project for additional year-round pedestrian-friendly experiences. Customers and passersby can enjoy a more refreshing outdoor experience along the 70-meter boardwalk.

A built-in cooling system under the floor, noise-cancelling walls, and a ceiling that lets in filtered sunshine while keeping heat out are all characteristics of the shaded tunnel.
